Games like Mario Party for game night with friends
Pummel Party is the closest game to Mario Party outside Nintendo: a board, items and minigames between turns. Jackbox and Fall Guys cover the party side without the board. Roam has a meme board game and party races you can play on iPhone.
How Mario Party works
Mario Party is Nintendo's party board game series. The first one came out on the Nintendo 64 in 1998, developed by Hudson Soft. Four players roll dice, move around a board and play a short minigame after every round. Coins buy stars, and the player with the most stars wins.
Anything can happen. Items, bonus stars at the end and board events can flip the result on the last turn. The newest is Super Mario Party Jamboree from 2024. There is no Mario Party on phones.

Make game night better
Set a limit before you start: ten turns or one hour. Long party games are fun until the last half hour. Put the strongest and the newest player on one team for team minigames.
Give the loser of each round a small power, like picking the next minigame, so nobody falls too far behind.
