Vampire Survivors and 20 Minutes Till Dawn are the closest games to Brotato: short runs, auto-attacks and a build that grows every wave. Halls of Torment is the darker pick. Brotato itself is on phones, and Roam has horde games too.
How Brotato plays
Brotato is a top-down arena roguelite by Blobfish, a one-person studio. It came out in early access in 2022 and fully released in June 2023. You are a potato with up to six weapons that fire on their own. Survive each wave of aliens, then spend materials in a shop on weapons and items.
Every character changes the rules, like using only one weapon type or getting stronger from one stat. A full run is 20 waves, and Blobfish says runs take under 30 minutes.
Arena roguelites like Brotato
- Vampire Survivors. poncle's 2022 hit that started the wave. Move, and your weapons attack on their own. Free on phones.
- 20 Minutes Till Dawn. flanne's survival shooter. You aim yourself, so it feels close to Brotato's arena fights.
- Halls of Torment. Chasing Carrots' dark fantasy survivor, styled like late-90s PC RPGs. Full release in 2024.
- Megabonk. vedinad's 3D take from 2025 with jumping, sliding and huge builds.
Games like Brotato on mobile
Brotato came to iPhone and Android in March 2023, ported by Erabit Studios. There is a free version and a paid premium one. Vampire Survivors is free on phones with optional ads, and Erabit also brought 20 Minutes Till Dawn and Halls of Torment to mobile.
Build tip for all of them: pick one damage type and stack it. Mixing melee and ranged items early spreads your stats too thin. A few points of HP regen before wave 10 save a lot of runs.
