What DOOM is
DOOM is id Software's first-person shooter series, started in 1993. You run fast through maze-like levels full of demons, find colored keycards and switch weapons on the fly. There is no cover and no reloading in the classic games: speed is your armor.
DOOM (2016) and DOOM Eternal (2020) added glory kills and nonstop movement. DOOM: The Dark Ages came out in May 2025 as a medieval prequel, built around the Shield Saw, a shield you block, parry and attack with.

- Turbo Overkill. Trigger Happy Interactive's 2023 cyberpunk shooter with a chainsaw leg.

- Quake. id Software's 1996 follow-up, darker and fully 3D. A remaster came out in 2021.
- DOOM + DOOM II. The 2024 re-release of the first two games, with a new expansion, Legacy of Rust. Out on consoles and PC.
