Games like Geometry Dash
Geometry Dash is a one-button rhythm platformer by RobTop Games, out since 2013. If you love tapping on the beat and learning a level by heart, the games below give you the same loop. Most are on phones, a few are on PC and consoles.
Why Geometry Dash is hard to put down
You tap to jump an icon through spikes, portals and speed changes, and every obstacle is placed on the music. One hit sends you back to the start, so each run teaches you a little more of the level. Practice mode lets you drop checkpoints before you try the real run.
The other half of the game is the level editor. Players build and share their own levels, from easy ones to Extreme Demons that take weeks to beat. That is why people keep playing it years later: there is always a new level to learn.
Rhythm and one-tap games like Geometry Dash
- Geometry Dash Lite, Meltdown, World and SubZero. RobTop's own free spinoffs on phones. Lite has the first levels of the main game, the others add short new level packs.
- The Impossible Game. FlukeDude's 2009 game where a square jumps spikes to music with one touch. It is the closest older relative of Geometry Dash.
- Just Shapes & Beats. Berzerk Studio's 2018 game on PC and consoles. You dodge shapes that pulse to an electronic soundtrack, alone or with up to four friends.
- Level Devil. A troll platformer by Unept, free with ads on iOS and Android. The level changes under your feet, so you learn each screen by dying on it.
- Muse Dash. An anime rhythm runner by PeroPeroGames. You hit two lanes on the beat while the stage scrolls, on phones, PC and Switch.
- Rolling Sky. Cheetah Games' ball runner where tracks are synced to songs. Same memorize-and-retry feel, steered with a swipe instead of a tap.
- Super Meat Boy. Team Meat's hard precision platformer with instant restarts. No music sync, but the same one-more-try pull.
How to pick your next one
If you play Geometry Dash for the music, go with Just Shapes & Beats or Muse Dash. If you play for the pain of a hard level, Level Devil and Super Meat Boy are closer. If you mostly build levels, nothing beats the Geometry Dash editor, but making a whole game around your idea is the next step up.
